An idyllic lake in the Höhlenstein valley at 1406 m above sea level. It is located in the 3 Zinnen Dolomites Nature Park and offers a great view of the Cristallo Group to the south.
Niederdorf – Cortina d‘Ampezzo
From Niederdorf via Toblach and the Dürrensee to Cortina and back. The landscape here is dominated by the mountain panorama of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With views of the 3 Peaks
On the cycle path from Niederdorf towards Lienz and along the railway to Toblach. Turn right towards Cortina (signposted) and travel on the cycle route to Toblach along the disused railway line.
The route takes you in a southerly direction and slightly uphill past Lake Toblach, the Krieger cemetery, the 3 Peaks and the Dürrensee, Monte Cristallo and up to the highest point, the Cimabanche. This is located at 1,530 m above sea level and is the starting point for the descent back to Cortina with views of the famous Tofane.
On the way back down, the cycle path takes you through a tunnel and subsequent high bridge with a view of Cortina. Travel back from Cortina to Toblach in the summer season on buses with bicycle trailers from the Cortina Express bus company (pre-booking required).
