The “Bundwerk” is a masterful wooden construction style used mainly for farm buildings in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, Bundwerk barns are considered architectural treasures of Upper Bavaria. Seven such buildings can be found along this circular tour. From Burgkirchen on the Alz, the route heads southeast to Gallersöd near Halsbach, where one of the most beautiful Bundwerk barns in the Alpine region stands. The southern Inn-Salzach region is a center of this building culture, and the listed four-sided farmsteads with painted Bundwerk barns in Emmering and Moosen are among the most impressive examples.
